This image was taken during sunrise. I had woken up a little late and could see the sky already lighting up. Once again, I had to hastily grab all my gear and run across a bunch of rocks to get to this spot. By this time, around the middle of our trip, I think the lack of sleep was definitely getting to me. The constant waking up for sunrise at 4:30am and staying up late for sunset (past 11pm) did not allow for much sleep, but I loved every minute of it.

The night before, with the help of The Photographer’s Ephemeris, I was able to determine where the sun was going to rise and chose this small pool. I really enjoyed how the water would rush through the gap in the rocks directly towards my feet, and the green plants in the reflecting pool didn’t hurt either. While I was setting up for this shot, I dropped one of my GND filters into this pool, and almost knocked my camera over! Even with my lack of sleep, I was still able to catch the camera before any damage occurred (I’ll attribute my fast reflexes to the fact that I am a morning person!).

This photo is a two shot horizontal stitch as I wanted more in the photo from this close to the pool then my lens would allow. I took three exposures for each horizontal set of photos, and manually blended them using Photoshop CS5 . Then I took the two resulting images and merged them together in Photoshop.
