After over five years and a few hundred thousand images captured, this remains one of my all time favorites. I have a large print of it hanging above my desk and stop to look at it often. I was digging through some old images today and decided to take a stab at reprocessing it.
I'm not sure exactly why I like this image so much. Maybe it's the few lonely trees, flourishing in an inhospitable spot of red, rocky beach, separated by so little but also so much from their many brethren in the rainforest behind the beach. Maybe it's the uninhabited islands that seem so close that they are begging to be explored, but in reality are a world away. Or maybe it's just a nice memory from a great trip, while being something a little different from the dozens of other beaches I saw and shot while there. Whatever the reason, I'll always romanticize this place because of this image. Maybe some day I'll have the opportunity to return.
