A male ground hornbill carries a bundle of mantids and grasshoppers, presumably for his mate or young. If he spots another tasty morsel, he will carefully put the collection to one side, grab the new prey, then carefully rearrange all the food items on the ground before picking them back up and walking on. Other related ‘helpers’ also feed the young, but usually only the first hatchling survives by out-competing its smaller and younger sibling(s)
