Few birds exhibit a greater degree of habitat specialization than the Araucaria Tit-Spinetail from South Brazil. They are found exclusively in Araucaria angustifolia, a native pine tree from southern South America. The deforestation of Araucaria groves has greatly reduced the population of these birds, although more recently they have benefited somewhat by commercial plantations.
