On the way out to this point, I stumbled across a Rattlesnake and spent a good hour lying beside it on the ground snapping pictures with my macro set-up; my EF 135mm f/2 and 25mm extension tube were the best tools I had to get close. While this was foolish, I managed to get a couple keepers and avoid a fatal bite.
Time passed quickly with the snake and I almost missed this sunset. I hurried out to the shoreline with my gear, walked into the water, and found these immovable rocks.
The way these rocks were positioned together, standing firm amid the power of the rolling waves, reminded me of how the One I believe in is like a rock that stands firm amid all the moves in time.
Though the radiance of the red sky and the beauty of the green and blue hues in the water were what first caught my eyes, it is the significance of what these intransigent rocks represent that moves me still today.
