Of all the places I wanted to visit in Iceland, the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and beach was on the top of my list and it was far more impressive than I expected. The icebergs break off the Vatnajökull glacier, float through the lagoon, flow out into the ocean during low tide, and then wash up onto the beach, eventually breaking up and melting away. We spent a few days watching and photographing this process under all kinds of different conditions - definitely a highlight of the trip
