was this taken with a tripod? in some ways I hate bringing a dslr with me on vacation, but taking photos like this almost makes me want to bring my 7d along...

The optimum resolution for 500px is 900 pixels on the long side... I always upload just that to avoid the server-side resizing which costs some sharpness.

Yeah, it's hard to see here, but the sand is tack sharp. The sky and water are smoothed because of the long exposure. :-)
