Fiery, explosive activity dominated the action at the Waikupanaha ocean entry on this particular morning. Standing precariously on an overhanging ledge added quite a bit of drama to the moment, as frequent ground tremors and deep cracking sounds underscored the instability of... my sanity for being out there! Each shake made me want to grab my tripod and take off running, as frequent collapses sheer off much larger chunks of lava rock than what's sitting in the foreground... But, worse than that, it ruined most of my exposures... Doggone...
Oh yeah, and a couple days later, the ledge fell into the sea.
