With few exceptions, the buildings and houses in Buttercrambe are owned by the Darley estate - which is run by George Winn-Darley, resident of Aldby Park - he is living there at the moment , even though there was a big fire there in Dec 1999 (we photographed the mansion on assignment in September 1999).
Buttercrambe is a small village in the Buttercrambe with Bossall civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England.

In 1840 Buttercrambe had a population of 176, with a pub, a miller, a coal merchant, a smith and a watchmaker, together with 5 farmers listed in the trade directory. Henry Darley was at Aldby Park. By 1872, the pub was no longer present, and now the village has very few facilities. This Victorian Walled garden is a real meeting place, people buying vegs, perusing the green-houses chosing plants, it is a way of life, fast disappearing, great that England is still so very traditinal! Hanging on.
There is a market, walled organic kitchen garden on the site, with grassland and a wild meadow beyond the garden, which has a small shop, but otherwise it is down to Stamford Bridge, about 3 miles away - and no bus service.
These are the 3 'latest' gardeners, the one took over from the other...
The top one is the eldest, the left one the next, who the old gardener called the 'young' gardener, lol.
I'll upload them 'separate'...
On the right is the latest one... for how much longer sadly, who will take over from this 'youngster'?
