This shot has a lot of potential Julian. Try keeping your waterline out of center frame. Put it in either the upper or lower third of your frame. I would suggest on this shot that it be in the upper third with very little or no sky showing since it was a drab day. Your trees are also fairly centered vertically in the frame. Move them to one side or the other. The trees are also under exposed. Taking the sky out on this shot and showing more foreground in front of the trees would have opened your shutter more to give more light to the trees to see the wood color more.
