I was watching my (signed!) special edition Blu Ray of The Last Unicorn, with commentary from author Peter S. Beagle and publisher Connor Cochran the other day. Obviously, I am not new to the story of The Last Unicorn, but listening to the two men talk brought up a point I hadn't ever thought about before (mild spoiler coming, so consider yourself warned).

As wonderful and safe perfect and magical as the Unicorn's life was before she began her quest, it was incomplete. She had to become a mortal girl to learn how to love. And though it was a painful lesson for her, and it changed her forever, still it was a good thing. And on days when I am cursing my physical body for the evil tricks it plays on me through my illness, it is comforting to remember that being a mortal girl may provide invaluable lessons for me as well.

The light swirls here were created just with a flashlight and a long exposure :)

I have started a campaign to raise funds for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome research! There is a desperate need for more answers about the disease. From now until August 31s, 50% of all profits from print sales and my online self-discovery-through-photography course Introspective will be donated to the CFIDS; an organization actively doing research into CFS. You can also donate directly to the CFIDS, of course.

I also just released a shortvideo I made to help bring more attention to this issue. Please help spread the word about my campaign and consider helping in any way you would like. Every bit helps!
