The midnight sun in Iceland can be very strong.
What I used for this photo shot was three different filters - one polarizing - one 3 stops lee filter - one 0.9 hard lee filter. Probably I also used the magic cloth technique here which is a fancy word for moving your hand or glove in front of the lens for some time to darken the bright areas.
It became very popular to use heavy ND-grads and/or digital processing to make "pseudo-HDR" images that look really awful. If something is in shadow it must be at least a bit darker than areas filled with light. And here it's done in a natural-looking manner. Thanks a lot for so careful handling with Light :)
