A coalition of 2 young male cheetahs were hanging around just north of Nossob camp in the Kgalagadi. There was a lone springbok a little south of them, and all the other visitors parked at the springbok in anticipation of a hunt. I could see that the springbok was totally aware of the cheetahs and there would be no chance of a hunt in that direction...so I stuck with the cheetahs.
When they got up, they started walking north (away from the springbok) and I was able to follow them and predict where they would scale the embankment towards the road, and positioned myself for it. At this point they had picked up a potential (but unseen to me) prey on the dunes behind me. This shot is almost full frame out of the camera.
The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park that straddles South Africa and Botswana is one of the best places in the world to view wild cheetahs doing what they do best.
