My passion for the natural world began more than half a century ago. My childhood days, outside the confines of the classroom, were spent, rain or shine, on the back of my horse exploring the vast and unfenced desert country of Idaho. I love landscape but I loved the land first, not just those bits of it that fit neatly into the camera's frame. This affair began long before I thought to make landscape photographs. Nature photography, for me, is a process of self-discovery and introspection. It instills in me a heightened awareness of the fragility and breathtaking beauty of the world we so fleetingly inhabit. Nature holds an intense sense of spirituality for me and photography creates a stop in time, allowing an emotional memory to form. Through photographs I seek to share my intimate visual experience with others.
