Roberto Carnevali was born in Modena, Italy in 1968, where he still lives and works. As a kid he grew up breathing photography, having both parents very fond of it. At 9 years old, he was encouraged to take pictures with a Nikon Reflex totally manual. Self-taught, he learned from his mother the aspects to be more creative and instinctive in photography and from his father a more technical and reflective approach to the picture. Photography becomes a hobby for many years, until the day everything changed. The sudden loss of his father disrupted his stability and turned his life upside down. From that day, photography became a necessity, like food and air. Roberto only realized after a few years, that photography was the remedy for his broken heart. Photographer for passion, he explored the world of the image in all its eclectic shapes. He has a strong taste for the black and white, through which he creates his own visions and fascinations. He loves to tell stories that he has at heart, preparing photographic paths that lead the viewer to a direct link to emotions and sensations. Melting-pots, influences and inspirations for his way to create images, come from music and literature (Dylan, Springsteen, and Shakespeare). Roberto is a promoter of the culture of photography: he arranges and personally takes care of photography classes, thematic tutorials and themed gatherings. He collaborates with the editorial staff of many important magazines of photography. His photos are the subject of many publications, exhibitions and projections.
