Born in Kufstein, Austria (1947). After being educated as a chemical laboratory worker, Johann worked as an assistant photographer for several years until he studied at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst Wien (Austria) and the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Germany).
After working in the Netherlands, Germany and Austria, in 1978 he founded the independent design company Scheiber Design working in the field of product design, corporate communication, and new media.
Johann retired in 2011 and restarted his photographic endeavours.
