If I woke up one morning as a great photographer, I would go back to bed. Nothing against photographers, but I have lost too many dear hobbies to work, and whenever that happens to whatever, it stops being fun, and I stop doing it if I don't have to.
But there's no danger for that to happen to my photography: even though I've carried an SLR with me since I was 13 or so, I've never had any idea why I'm doing it - and it shows.
My first SLR was Yashica Electro X ITS back in the 70s, then came Canon F1, which I still have, because to me it is a legend. After some digital compacts I moved to Canon 300D, then 5D and finally to 5D mk III. I could not live without the full sized sensor, which behaves just like a real 35mm, because - it is!
I don't use flash much because I usually find the results either unnatural or too trendy no matter how many times I bounce. So if a location does not have suitable light, I go somewhere else.
Enjoy the photos, enjoy life!
PS. I'm an immigrant from Flickr. Their 20th of May update was a gift from heaven for me - I would have never found 500px without it.
