Throughout my life, my family and I have spent a lot of time traveling throughout North America, enjoying the national parks and seeing the sites. I have vivid memories of places like Lake Louise in Banff National park, Mono Lake, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon. It was during this time that I developed a love for nature. A self taught photographer, I started shooting as a hobby in 2006 and found that the technical challenges of photography fit well with my love of nature and my inquisitive personality. Through photography, I have been able to see and experience the world in new ways, finding and photographing nature’s details that most people overlook. From the grand landscape, to the tiniest insect, I have found that the world is full of beauty when you take the time to notice. Many hours spent in the field studying my subjects have made the quality of my images possible. My approach is with a respect that allows me to capture detailed images with minimal impact. Determined to capture the best possible image while in the field, I prefer to use the digital darkroom only to develop and enhance the image originally captured. Joel DeYoung Holland, Michigan.
