Recently, I found a new friend that follows me around where I live. He came from the other side of the fence. His name is Mark; Mark the cat. While I've not seen this particular kitty in the now three months I've lived where I presently do, I don't have any reason to believe he's a stray: He is well kept, super friendly (much to the apprehension of my very allergic wife), and knows that when I won't let him into my apartment to go back over the fence and quit whining at my window. He still hasn't figured out that there is an entire forest of rabbits across the street.

Explorations of the Underworld began as a time lapse project at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. However, after setting up and letting my camera capture the day, the weather turned for the worse and the wind overcame my tripod. I started walking the perimeter of the aquarium and found tehse openings, all filled with various substances both natural and human-made. These became my new subject as I complete the semicircle around the grounds. The result was this: my exploration into the refuse of humankind and how the environment manages to thrice in the mess that we leave behind.
