Andrew Dare Photography

A professional yacht Captain & Photographer for 29 years, sailing over 160,000 miles (7 times round the planet). Now living high in the Peruvian Andes.

After spending most of my life at sea, working in Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Arctic and Antarctic, I decided it's time to see some more land, so travelled extensively though Asia in 2006, before heading back to boats, skippering a yacht down through the fiords of Patagonia.
I enjoyed South America so much that in 2008 I moved up to 12,000 feet in Cusco Peru.
Peru has every climate zone apart from polar ice shelf, so there is an incredible amount to see & do here. Cusco is a perfect base to explore all this being centrally located in the Andes mountains, with the Pacific coast & the Atacama desert is just to the west, & just to the east is the nearby Amazon jungle.
Perfect !

I have recently become fascinated by the night skies, as living at such high altitude the skies are so much more clear & vivid, due the there being so much less pollution, so the faint light has much less atmosphere to pass through, making everything much more bright & crisp.
