A Day in Black & White

Published September 10th, 2011

Went out with the intention of shooting only in B&W. The urge was there, but in the end, I think I took a total of two (uninspiring) shots. I switched to color to shoot my lunch. Took more shots of lunch in color than I did of B&W overall. Guess today wasn't my day ;)

Visa Obtained

Published July 16th, 2011

Uzbek embassy had told me that they would call when my visa was ready. And my understanding was that they would send it COD to my house. Got word on Monday the 11th that my Telex number had came through. I expected a call (or a COD) within the next couple days. On the 14th, having heard nothing, I called the embassy. The visa was ready. I wonder how long it would have sat if I hadn't called.

Made a run in to Tokyo on Friday the 15th to pick it up. Changed money (¥->US$) before leaving. Didn't want to drag out the visa process as I found out that I would have to mail payment (cash) to them, then wait for them to send the passport back to me. Too much room for error. Uzbekistan Prep

Published July 11th, 2011

Telex number arrived the other day, so getting tickets is a go. Will probably pay a premium for not having bought them earlier, but didn't want to splurge on the off-chance that my visa would not be approved. Lesser of two evils.

Will probably be going with AIS for travel insurance. Supposedly they support airlifting out in medical emergencies. Hopefully nothing comes to that point, but would rather be safe than sorry.

Tickets purchased through JTB. Will be spending the night in Seoul on the way over.

Stopped by for some curry at CoCo IchiBan after picking up my tickets. Popped into some shops in Orion Dori whilst walking back to Utsunomiya JR station. Picked up a handful of old CDs (¥300/ea.). Hit Yodobashi Camera, swapped out a battery I'd made a mistake on last week and picked up an SC-01 case/battery pack for my Samsung Galaxy SII.

Now just hope my visa will show up in the next day or two.
