Louw van den Heever

I work as a computer network administrator by day, but that in no way defines me. My love and passion can be found in the sheer beauty of nature. The obvious and natural expression of this passion is through wildlife photography. I am fortunate to have a family and wife that share this passion.

Wildlife photography is more than a pastime or hobby. With the destruction of wild places, and loss of natural habitat and species it is the collective responsibility of all wildlife and nature photographers to preserve and showcase what we stand to loose.

Think of the places and species you wish to see and it can probably be traced back to a photographer or video cameraman. I want to see Birds of Paradise because of David Attenborough. I want to photograph Bonobos and swimming elephants because of Steve Bloom. I want to go to Yosemite because of Ansel Adams. The list goes on and on. Hopefully, in a small way we can all stand testimony to the awesome beauty of our natural world and inspire others and future generations.
