I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. From a young age my family and I have regularly travelled to the bush for breakaways. It was these encounters which produced in me a deep love and admiration for Africa and it's natural beauty.
As a child, I started keeping checklists of animal and bird sightings, scribbled down interesting animal facts, and once even used my parent's old video camera to make a seasonal documentary of some Red Bishops that nested in the reeds behind our house.
In 2008, I picked up my first DSLR, a borrowed Nikon D50 with 70-300 VR lens, and headed into the Kruger National Park for a day with my wife. From that time my passion (and hopefully skill) for taking photos that capture what I have felt since childhood have only increased.
As an amateur photographer I try to get to the bush with my wife and three small boys whenever I can, and love seeing the same admiration being birthed in them.
