Russian winter

Published February 26th, 2012

So I've collected some of my winter photographs and gonna show you my impression of native Russian winter. Hope you will love my debut short story

The beginning of winter :)

It was 9 December 2011 but weather was very warm for traditional winter season. There's no snow, only little ice lies on water. People are looking forward to a snowy and cold winter.

Dangerous sleet

Since 25 of December 2010 for a one week in the Moscow region occured very stunning and at the same time dangerous rare weather phenomenon. It was icy rain. The danger of this appearance is the abundant accumulation of ice on trees branches with risk of failure that can lead to accident. But on the other hand I didn't skip this phenomenon and took some unusual beautiful shots

Snowy wood

This is the most successful image of winter wood. I love to strolling in Moscow region forest. There is a lot of very soft and clean snow. I had the best impressions from that winter.

White branches

I love landscapes when all of branches are covered with fluffy snow. The forest looks so fairytale and brightly. But I had callenges with walking because on the ground lies very deep snow (about half meter) and my shoes gathered a lot of snow

...I was enjoying landscapes but suddenly I looked up and took this nice shot. When birches are leaves-free they look more eloquently and monumental.

Wow, loved each of these. Honestly, I kinda wanted the ice on branches to be sharper but they have a different power as they are, very cool. You have a great eye for composition.
