Amitaabh Bakshi

“People are my inspiration. Each moment, I believe, is beautiful.”
Amitaabh Bakshi, a maverick of sorts, is a Lifestyle and Wedding photographer, with an extended expertise in all the other fields of photography, based out of Gurugram, India. He has lived and travelled extensively all across the globe, wearing many hats of the trade- being an ace chef, a business executive and now, a photographer.
After spending two decades building his career as an International Business Development Specialist, he quit his job in 2010 to pursue his childhood love, Photography. A London School of Photography Graduate, Amitaabh spent years learning and experimenting with different styles. His experimentation led him to devise a unique style that perfectly blends photojournalistic, candid and staged approach.
A sucker for framing, Amitaabh’s fascination with cameras began early in his childhood. As a toddler, he would fiddle with his father’s Yashica TLR and get completely astounded with the lens. Coming from an army background, the family was constantly on the move, giving Amitaabh ample opportunities to explore new places and his passion for photography. He started with the most basic camera, Kodak Micro 110, which eventually got him his first recognition as a photographer at the age of 15.
He became a trailblazer in the field of photography when he started shooting weddings and lifestyle portraiture. Adapting a globally local (Glocal) style of photography is his work, Amitaabh received many accolades and recognition for his work. He was named as one of the Top 50 Environmental Photographers of the Year, 2014.
After moving to India, he continued his venture of exploration by travelling to the most distant places, uncovering things and incidents, bringing them to light for others to discover. He has been actively involved with social work and support groups, making his contribution through photography count wherever possible. His drive to capture true emotions and actual moments gives his work a refined edge, as he considers photography, not just an act taking pictures, but as an art form, which truly reflects the uniqueness of oneself.
Amitaabh has held several photo exhibits in across the globe and released two coffee table books, the third in the making. As his journey continues, Amitaabh plans on expanding his reach digitally to interact with a larger audience and showcase his work and experiments with technological advancements in the field of photography.
