Come monsoon and the villagers of Maharastra undertake their annual pilgrimage to the holy town of Pandharpur. The pilgrimage is essentially done on foot, over days and weeks from far away villages. The pilgrims pour in in large numbers, carrying their lord in the palkhi and chanting the name of the God. The journey culminates in Pandharpur by the banks of the Chandrabhaga river. For these few days, the small town of Pandharpur becomes the epicenter of religious activity.
