Fuji X-Pro1 Rolling Review Part 5

Low light photography with X-Pro 1. Great colors. Really like the output. Today I played with different film modes in low light. Unfortunately I didn´t write down which photo with which mode thus I am not sure anymore and don´t want to show different files. I didn´t find any notes in the exif, thus I don´t know if one can find out later. What I have seen on the display of the cam, neg-h, astia for not too saturated colors and velvia for landscape photography are my choice.

Fuji X-Pro1 rolling review part 4

Landscape photography:

Today I tried the X-Pro1 for some landscape and B&W shots. The photos were made near Montiggl Lake, 2 small lakes in South Tyrol, next to Kaltern. Unfortunately I was up too late in the morning, thus the best light already was gone. To meet the muted colors of beginning spring with many brown tones of last fall I shot the photos with jpg/Fuji Neg N.

Once more I was astonished by the quality of the files. If you have any question, please ask.

Fuji X-Pro1 rolling review part 3

Dynamic range:

I´ll post some jpgs from very contrasty images. Pic 1 is the original jpg without any adjustments, pic 2 is the best I could adjust within LR4 from the original jpg and pic 3 is saved from Raw worked with Silkypix. As this is my really first experience with Silkypix the final photo can probably be much better. If anybody would like to try please tell me, I can send the original raw file .

What I can say there is a lot of potential in the raw files and I am looking forward to develop the files with C1 or LR4.

What else can I say to the X-Pro1 with the experience of only a few hours work: Would I buy it again? Yes, yes!! Is it better than Sony Nex7? yes, yes!! I only speak of the quality of the files of both cameras. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Sony Nex7 a few weeks ago. To be honest I only had the new Tamron 18-200 for Nex and the 16mm Sony lens. Both lenses are in terms of picture quality not comparable to the 35mm of the Fuji. Although the Nex7 is a nice cam ...

Fuji X-Pro1 rolling review part 2

Annother day and unfortunately not enough time to take good pics. But within the last light I walked through Innsbruck and tried to get some nice impressions from old Villas.

What to say about X-Pro1

Yes: besides the IQ I like the handling, fits nicely into my hand, the shutter has a nice muted klick nothing to worry about not even in very silent places like churches or theaters. The lcd is great. I´d say better than my Nikon D700. I like the Q button, very fast adjustments although today I only photographed in jpg because obviously I changed from Raw/fine to fine alone. Don´t ask when and how :(.

The often bespoken noise of changing apertures isn´t very sexy but not so much a problem for me because I almost never work with program automatic. Most time I work fixed apertue 1,4. More about AF and menus within the next days. All photos from today - last sun and after sunset.

Fuji X-Pro1 rolling review

Published March 23rd, 2012

3 days ago I finally got my Fuji X-Pro1 with the 35/1,4. I normally don´t order a camera which I didn´t even see in nature but there was so much fascination me thus I dared the blind order :)

I´ll post photos regularly here and will tell my findings about the cam. The most important thing which makes at least 80% of the purchase decision is the quality of the files... and what I can say now the clarity is awesome. Colors with Velvia and Astia rendering great, raw quality has to wait until PhaseOne or Lightroom support the files. Here are the very first photos from jpg
