Pete Dobré

Landscape photographer in Adelaide in Australia. I love capturing the awesomeskies that we have above us, thats is my true passion, I see the skies as God's canvas and every day He paints in a different shade of blue, grey or black and the good thing, the skies are a free gift to us all. The sky for Pete is always the focal point in the picture where ever it is possible.Often many of us walk looking down, or looking forward and few look skyward and there above us, lies so many rich rewards in seeing what our Maker has give to us. If you like taking pictures, look skyward and you may gain the same love affair that I have for the skies. It excites me, evokes strong emotions within me and delights me . In the context of time, life is very short and time should not be wasted on anger, resentment but rather your time should be put into life, enjoying it and doing the things that you really love doing. Most of us have our difficult times, and when that happens, we have two choices, we can either let it grind and eat us up or we can cast it aside, learn from it and move on to embrace life. Embrace life, set out to do the things you enjoy. In my case, i love taking pictures and I think the simple things in life are the most rewarding and offer the greatest joy. For those following my work, it is so kind of you and I don't take it for granted. Im still trying to work 500px out, still have figured it out as yet but hopefully in time I will. I encourage you not to be a person who allows things to eat at them, but rather be someone who will embrace the life that they have and use it also to bring joy to others. I leave you these words from the old book that inspire me. I'm not perfect, I have many faults and yes I get things wrong, I sin like everyone else but given that, I still find these words inspiring and in my own small way, I do strive to live this. Not always getting it right. When I fall from grace, yes I do, I keep on trying to live this out regardless.A bit like taking 2 steps forward, 1 back, 3 forward , 2 back but slowly moving forward. Just because I believe in Jesus, doesn't make me a better person than the next, far from it. I never see myself as that. I am truly thankful for the gift that He has given me as I have had no training at all.I will always be so grateful to Him for giving me the gift of capturing aspects of His awesome creative acts. "Therefore as God's chosen people....clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love., which binds them all together in perfect unity" Colossians 3:12-14

The Remarkable

Published July 17th, 2014

There are times in our photographic life where we are confronted with what I call “ The Remarkable,” and that is not really the right word for what I want to talk about but how do you find a word that describes for you, something that pushes you over the edge in terms of expectations, grandeur, awe inspiring and then at the end of the time of shooting “The Remarkable “, you want to go back for more and more and more. You walk away thinking, “ What did I just witness?”

Over your photographic journey this may change and perhaps even on a yearly basis when you shoot something that inspires you and the following year, there is something else that equally has the same impact on you. Perhaps every so many trips , this changes for you. It’s different for all of us.

Over the years I have had the honor to have shot many wonderful landscapes, seascapes and they are all wonderful and each place hold its magic grandeur.

For Pete, his life seems a blur at times, it is moving faster than he cares ...

FJ Holden

There are things that excite us that will be different for all of us. What one gets excited about , the other will look and say to them self, “ how could he or she possibility get excited about that?” We are all different aren’t we.

For those who have been following my brief photographic journey on Facebook, will know that for Pete, the FJ holden is one of those crazy things that excites him.Why is that? Why get all pumped up over an old car that was manufactured in the 50’s?

Well for Pete it’s more than the car, it’s what the car represents.

For those who have been looking at my blogs, you’ll notice that I have been shooting a series of images on an old FJ Holden in the field which I call affectionately, The Girlfriend, old, rusty and hot!!! I have been shooting her for the entire year. I don’t post everything that I shoot of her. I have started in the summer months with the browns and earthy colours of summer and followed through to the winter with the lush greens in th ...
