We all find inspiration from somewhere or someone. I must say that I am lucky enough to have been inspired by many people throughout my life. But there is always that special person, a beautiful human being, who motivates and arouses something within you that makes you stand up, listen and learn.
Many years ago in 1972 my husband and our young daughter migrated from Germany to Australia. Eventually we moved from Melbourne to Cairns in Far North Queensland, where we met our dear friend Peter Erbe. Peter unfortunately is no longer with us, but his spirit always will be.
He was a great photographer and he taught me the love for the art of photography. Not only did he release the shutterbug within me but he also inspired and shared his love for weight training with me. Many years later I opened my own Fitness Centre in Sydney, Australia. For about 5 years I taught weight training and aerobic classes. I entered several body building competitions and I achieved 2nd place once.
From then on I started my search for knowledge about the workings of the body and how nutrition is a catalyst for health and wellbeing. In my hunt for information I came across a wonderful book by biochemist Walter Last “Healing Foods”. This book became my bible way back in 1990. Many years later I started my studies to become a nutritionist.
Meanwhile, I remarried and moved to Mackay in Queensland. By pure coincidence (or higher intervention) I discovered that Walter Last lives not far from me. Needless to say that I got his phone number and contacted him with the wish to meet him. At the time I did not know that he was German as well. He so freely shared his extensive knowledge and I absorbed it like a dry sponge. These days Walter is retired and he shares his knowledge via his writings via his website and books (see contact page).
Several years later my friend Judie and I started an internet business selling nutritional supplements, which Walter recommends in his writings. Judie and I also run a clinic together in Mackay. I am working as a nutritionist and Judie is a clinical hypnotherapist.
As so often in life things come full circle. With the advancement in digital photography my enthusiasm was once again rekindled and with the great progress in modern technology and the internet it is so much easier to combine my two loves, photography and poetry, and share them with you.
Some of my images are now on display, as I have hung them on the walls in our reception area and called it 'The Upstairs Gallery'.
I am available for work in the area of interior/exterior design photography.
Some of the people we meet in life become friends for life and some are just friends passing through. I take the opportunity to thank all my friends.
