I'm quite new here and this is an amazing place for finding extraordinary good photography. There is one thing I don't like or understand however. The dislike button. What is the point? Let's say I only like landscape photos and here I am confronted with a street scene in black and white. Not my type, not good, dislike! Isn't it a lot better and more natural to just like when you like and don't press that button when you don't like. Easy.
Another thing with that. You find out that your shot is popular and recieves several likes. The rating raises. It increases in an understandable way in relation to the number of visitors and votes. But, then someone (I assume) presses dislike and the rating is suddenly much lower than before. As if a dislike has more weight than like. What is this?
One more thing. Why have the dislike button to the right. It's the most natural place to click, so why not have the LIKE button there. Chanses are pretty good that you want to like but end up dislikíng. I have done it, others has done it on my shots. How I know that? By the difference of one visitor, the rating goes down, I get a very complimenting comment by the same person who just added my photo to favourites. Of course he doesn't dislike the shot at the same time.
DROP THE DISLIKE BUTTON NOW, IT DOESN'T FILL ANY GOOD PURPOSE!!
I found this explanation about the rating, fair enough, I think it's well thought out. Still, the dislike button is a bye bye button for me :)
