Follow Friday: Street Photographers

Published by Diana Tula · February 22nd 2013

Inspired by the Follow Friday hashtag movement on twitter we started a new weekly feature on our blog. With Follow Friday posts you can discover new, popular and up-and-coming photographers from 500px to follow and add to friends.

Wenpeg Lu's photos are full of colour and great composition, framing his subjects with a clever use of negative space. Anyone with love for visual arts will enjoy and appreciate Wenpeng's photography.

Christophe Debon

Christophe presents street photography to us through quirky black and white portraits of passers by. Some of them will really make you laugh and some will make you wonder "Will I be this much fun when I get old?"

alexander kan

In his street photos Alexander focuses on stay animals, mostly cats and dogs. Showing to us the reality of their survival, poor and starved yet holding on together. Alexander's portfolio also offers a range of staged street photography and fine art photos that provide contrast and reinforce the image of stray animals.

Emanuele Toscano

Explore the day-to-day human narrative with beautifully balanced b&w and colour photos of Italian life. Emanuele has a great eye for capturing just the right moments, when all is candid and natural.

Eric Drigny

Immerse yourself in the world of street photography where the story of one is told over and over again, as though you are following the same character through different streets and adventures. Eric Drigny is a great narrator, cleverly selecting a frame with one person at a time he is able to share this charming story of one with us.

David Mar Quinto

If you love Street photography that's reminiscent of the early classic street photos then David Mar Quinto is your man. He really knows his craft, capturing great moments from unique angles (our favourite is bird's eye view).

Michael Steverson

Journey to the wonderful asia with photos by Michael Steverson and we trust your trip will be one to remember! The photos you are about to see are bursting with smells, flavour and texture. Just remember that not all is Street, there are some fine art photos too.

Fokko Muller

We love Fokko Muller's work for so many reasons and one of them is his sense of design. Learn to see graphically with Fokko Muller's photography observing as he defines each shape, shadow, and line with his photographs.

Mimmo Pellicola

Mind-blowing travel street photography anyone? You may have already visited asia with photos by Michael Steverson (see above), now you can travel the streets of the world with photos by Mimmo Pellicola. The tickets are free, just click below.

Lee Jeffries

An encounter with a homeless girl changed Lee Jeffries’ direction of photography, now his photos mostly consist of emotive and heart breaking portraits. Lee doesn’t walk away from people on the street whom the majority of us would turn away from, instead he greets, strikes a conversation and captures the essence of that person or persons.

We hope you enjoyed our roundup! This is the first Follow Friday post in this genre of photography and we can’t wait to share more features with you. Come back next Friday for incredible photographers to follow and get inspired by. For now you can visit our last Follow Friday post highlighting photographers in Urban Exploration category. Thanks for reading :)

Uh! I forgot:
Lee Jeffries is a great photographer and likely a great person too.
But I have some difficulties in putting him in a "Street Photography" category: wouldn't his work better fit a portrait one? This is for discussion pourposes only: I don't feel any authority in the choice, and obviously Lee himself posts his images in "street".
Wolfgang Zimmerman  about 2 years ago
Not "street" by any stretch of the imagination. Just because it's posted in street... <shakes head>
