Boris Firquet was born in Belgium. He lives in Canada. Since he's out of school, he shoots and edit news and documentary for a living.
He has been making experimental videos since 1988. Circa 1996 he has developed his interest in live stage video (also known as VJing). He creates most of the software for his live video performances.
His video works have been presented on numerous occasions at a variety of venues and events, including the Quebec Mois Multi Festival and the Victoriaville Festival, at Toronto’s Images Festival, at Montréal’s FCMM, at the Tokyo Video Festival, and at Berlin’s Transmediale, Marseilles’s Vidéochroniques and the Liège International Video Festival.
Firquet works a as an interactive video designer for theater, opera and musuems. The Rake’s Progress showned in Brussels, London, San Fransisco and Milan was his first opera project, followed by the re-staging of Robert Lepage's production of La Damnation de Faust (Metropolitan Opera, New York) and Wagner’s Ring. Rheingold and Die Walkure. (Metropolitan Opera, 2010–11).
He his passionate about photography and he's doing it for the fun of it.
