Hi! My name is Brandon Moore, and I'm a 20 year old student at Grove City College in PA, studying entrepreneurship. I live in Rochester, NY. My hobbies include skiing, skating, running, mountain biking, wakeboarding, wakesurfing, kiteboarding, etc. Name an extreme sport; I've either done it or dreamed about it.
Over the past two years, I have grown a passion for photography. It became a little hobby for me when I took a photography class in seventh grade. I learned how to use photoshop and really enjoyed it. My first camera was a $100 Kodak 5 megapixel digital camera. I got it when digital technology was just starting to emerge into the consumer level. It served me well for a few years, but as time goes by, technology changes. For my high school graduation, my parents gave me the Canon T2i. That camera taught me everything I know about photography. I would sit at my desk, whether it be at home or in my dorm, and watch youtube videos or read forum posts for hours about different topics or techniques. As I watched and read, I would practice the new tip with my camera. The next time I went out to shoot something, I would try to incorporate what I had been studying and learn how to use the technique. I'm a classic example of a hands on learner, so doing this was the best way for me to learn and progress as a photographer.
Being a college kid, I don't have too much money. Last summer I saved some money, sold my T2i, and bought the Canon 5d Mark ii. It is absolutely incredible. Progressing with this should be fun!
As far as lenses go, I have my pride and joy, the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L. Also in the camera bag is my Canon 24mm f/2.8, and the Sigma 50mm f/1.4, which is my most used lens by far.
My main passion is skiing. Yes, I am one of those kids in the terrain park with the over-sized coat and extra long tall tees. Skiing is ultimate bliss for me. I can't even describe to you what it feels like to be upside down thirty feet in the air, gapping a sixty foot jump at about forty miles an hour. Becoming a ski bum is my dream. After graduation, I'm moving out west and doing whatever I can to get into the skiing industry. Becoming a freelance photographer and supporting myself as a ski bum is my current goal in life. Just need to find some motivation to get through my last years in college...
A couple artists I am inspired by are Erik Seo and Ian Coristine. Erik is well known in the ski industry as one of the best photographers in the business, and his shots will show you why. Ian on the other hand is a landscape photographer, creating his own books filled with his pictures of the 1000 Islands. This is where I spend my summers, and it's truly amazing to see the shots Ian has taken from his sea plane and cottage in the islands.
Thanks for stopping by!
