A collection of photographs of moonbows (lunar rainbows). Typically, these photos are made when a full moon is shining on the mist of a waterfall. Yosemite Falls in Yosemite National Park is my favorite location for this type of work. They can be difficult to photograph, mostly because they cannot be seen by the naked eye (only a very faint gray band will be seen). The location and time of their appearance may be calculated from the elevation and azimuth angles of the moon. Other challenges include spray hitting the lens and the cold and wet conditions which must be endured for long periods of time. Despite the trouble, moonbow shooting is exciting and addictive!
