The Comeragh Mountains

Published April 5th, 2013

I'll be adding pictures of our own Comeragh Mountains gradually over the coming months as I re-process them. The Comeraghs and the Knockmealdowns are my favourite places in County Waterford, bar Lismore - we're very lucky to have them!

Coum Mahon

Coum Mahon, high in the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford. The is the view from the base of the Mahon falls... the River Mahon starts here, trickles down the mountain, through Kilmacthomas and finishes at Bunmahon (An Irish place name that literally means 'End of the Mahon') where it meets the sea. This is the most accessible point in the Comeraghs, as you can park at a carpark and trot up relatively easy to the falls themselves. On a clear day its beautiful, on a misty day pointless!

Coum Mahon and the Falls in the Distance

Looking into Coum Mahon and the Mahon Falls in the Comeragh Mountains, Waterford. The walk into the Mahon Falls and into Coum Mahon. Its deceptive - its actually about a kilometre away. A relatively easy trek into some spectacular scenery and a waterfall... not a spectacular fall by any means, but a nice solid flow and a handy climb up the rock face.
