Who would have thought a DSLR, a fairly innocuous buy online, would turn my life around…forever. At first it was just about discovering a new..err gadget. Fiddling with various features of the camera was a habitual necessity, the effect of using these features sometimes exciting, sometimes fun. Some initial successes led to more fiddling, which gave way to some experiments and then some more. When this quest became an obsessive need, a burning desire for excellence, I am not sure. But I started looking at the world differently. Every object needed to be scrutinized through the camera lens (even without a camera), and every frame became a composition. I was bitten…hard.

I started noticing uniqueness in everything around me - leaves, pebbles, rocks, rivers, streams, roads. Things that I would normally gloss over, became exciting, interesting, unique, waiting with a story to tell. My extensive and mundane business travels (I am a founder director of a fast growing enterprise) became manageable even exciting. The leisure hours which were mostly spent inside drab hotel rooms, disenchantedly surfing the internet, became a thing of the past. I would not let go of a single opportunity to hit the road and scourge the city for interesting nooks, expansive architectures, expressive faces, animated cafes capturing everything with joy and persistence. The exhaustion that kept me indoor was replaced with a new energy that would drive me outdoor, sometimes for hours together. Suddenly there are so many places to go to, so many things to do, so many frames to capture. Suddenly there is such a purpose to existence – fortunately this doesn’t come with an expiry date!
