Carlos A. Contreras was born in the city of Caracas on June the 5th of 1987. At the early age of 10 and encouraged by his parents, he had already developed artistic skills such as painting, sculpting, drawing and musical skills, achieving innocent exceptional results.
Following early influences, his life started to become completely dependent on music, with a special attraction for genres like rock, in which he began a music career playing the guitar in several venezuelan rock bands. For five years he explored the underground scene, until he decided to quit music after noticing the increasing lack of support of the industry for new talents. He devoted his time then to the study of advertising and marketing, which set his first steps in photography and audiovisual media. Responding to his passion from his unique vision of it, the art of image using a camera, what was first seen as a hobby that always caught his attention then became his day to day.
Since April of 2009, he began the practice of documentary photography and stepped into high fashion, experimenting and slowly bringing his techniques of focusing and lighting to the place he wanted to.
That's how in 2010 he had the opportunity to conduct sessions with nationally recognized models and take part in several projects of clothing stores and footwear, standing out with his unique style of lightning and editing.
In the same year, after working with several publishing houses, his personal vision became known amongst today's photographic market with "Let me play to fashion & Unique Style", giving it its new motto, and outstanding "La Magie", in a collaboration with the recognized makeup brand Super's. In December of 2010 he was already part of the Emporio Magazine team, as a fashion show and concert's photographer, standing out again with his 2011 Calendar for HE'S Store, the 2011 Fabrizzio Calvanesse collection, and the collections of several designers who instantly identified with Carlos' style like Alexis Carballosa and Enrique D 'Armas.
He also worked in the music scenario again, doing photos for Djs, Hector Patty, Alex Rouk, Goa, Jonathan Hernandez "Aka J2", Tony Guerra, Electro Sunshine songwriters (The Forever, John Grades) and more.
In mid-2011 his LOOK BOOK presented the proposal of a tour photographic project with the aim to promote both his talent and models from outside the capital.
By 2012, Carlos Contreras, hand in hand with the photographer Javier Jackson, worked in the new campaign of SENOSALUD, Venezuela's most recognized breast cancer foundation, with the realization of their 2012 calendar which brought together actresses, journalists and other influential women of the national scenario like: Emma Rave , Claudia Gatta, Maria de los Angeles de Gallego "La maracucha", Endrina Yepez and Barbara Sanchez, with the outstanding collaboration of 12 fashion designers including: Fabrizzio Calvanesse, Enrique D' Armas, Fabiana Gil, Daniel Medina, Diana Leon, Nairobi Baron, Mariana Camacho, and Ana di Prisco.
Nowadays, music is played through his photos. The snaps of his camera blend the notes of his old guitar with a passion for fashion photography. His unique games of color reflect his childhood master pieces of clay and color pencils. Today, his work is firm and solid to represent his country, Venezuela, as one of the greatest exponents of photography, using global references to achieve world-class work; with his style represented by the syncretism of the futuristic, and naturally personifying a vision that immortalizes fashion with the power of real art... keeping making progress within and outside his own borders.
