Charles Camarda

The passion for photography has been in my family for four generations. My great-grandfather was a cinematographer and his two sons became photographers. It was with his wife and children that my grandfather developed the family photography business. Today my cousins and I continue this tradition.

From a young age I lived and travelled all over France, from Provence where I was born, Normandy where I was schooled, and Lyon where I lived as a young adult. Once of age, I travelled the world, today living in New York where I have been for the last 6 years. With photography, I share scenes, portraits, and life's precious moments through expositions, publications and my website.

Photography, for me, is the art of opening a window on a moment in time. I believe that, through photography, I can lend my eyes to show others how I see the world.

Through habits or through professional practices a photographer becomes specialised. However, due to my widespread curiosity of all things, and more, I refuse to dedicate myself to a single photographic pursuit.

My intellectual motivation is stimulated by everything, from fashion to weddings, sceneries to urban life, publicity to animals, newborn life to sport. This diversity requires a vast expanse of different technical abilities and permits me to avoid the repetitiveness of routine. Thus in this way, the subject is always placed in the highest regard through the combination and utilisation of diverse and uniquely applied styles and techniques.
