Every once in a while I need to be reminded that the best method for learning is to shoot. I'm an information junkie. I like to know everything about something that interests me. In this world of "information at our finger tips", it's too easy to get caught up pouring through pages of tutorials, techniques and product reviews (stay away from that last one, new gear won't make you better). While the knowledge you find might make you aware of something you didn't already know, if you don't go out and execute, what's the point. So I'm committing myself to shooting something everyday. Consciously spending more time shooting than I do reading. I don't want to just press the shutter release for the sake of taking a photo however. I want to learn from each photo I make. I want to learn to tell a story with a photo. You can't do that if you're sending more time in front of a computer than behind a camera. So now I gotta go. I've spent 30 mins here today looking at photos and reading blog posts. I think 45 minutes with a camera is in order.
