Chris is a South African based wildlife photographer, originally hailing from the UK where he still has a home in the Yorkshire Dales. In his youth, he grew to love wild places, a love for adventure that continues to this day. Photography was a natural medium for him to share his passion for nature and the mesmerising effect that wildlife, and nature in general, continues to hold for him.
As an accomplished mountaineer, Chris guided and participated in expeditions across the globe, particularly the Himalaya regions. As the commercialisation of adventure travel gained momentum, he used his photojournalism to draw attention to the effect that this was having on a way of life for indigenous cultures that had existed for thousands of years, but were now in the process of dramatic and irreversible change.
In 1993, Chris experienced Africa for the first time. The vast blue African skies contrasting the burned red earth, "captured his soul". In the intervening years, Africa become his home and he has built an image library that extends from the Cape to the dry arid landscapes of the Kalahari desert.
Chris is a qualified Field Guide, registered with the Field Guides of Southern Africa and an elected Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS). He partners with South African based, Africa Nature Training as a member of their training team and as a specialist photo guide. His guided photographic safaris are uniquely designed for photographers to maximise the opportunity that Africa can offer their portfolios. Chris is a lifelong Nikon photographer and a Nikon Professional Services member.
