Although I will photograph just about any animal I can get close to, insects and spiders are my specialty. Many people see these creatures as creepy and revolting if they even notice them at all, but viewing these tiny animals through a macro lens presents them in an entirely new light. How many people have actually seen the "face" of a tiny jumping spider, or the beautiful compound eyes of a female horsefly? I hope that my work will help people appreciate the beauty of nature's smaller creatures.

Next year I plan to teach a week-long macro photography workshop in the Colombian Amazon, one of the most biologically diverse places on earth. Participants will stay at a very comfortable lodge located on the Amazon River and surrounded by virgin rainforest. I want to keep the group small so I'm looking for a maximum of ten people per workshop. I have not finalized all the details yet, but the first one will likely take place in July and the cost will be approximately $2600, which includes lodging in Bogota, lodging and all meals in the Amazon, and all in country transport. You don't need to speak a word of Spanish - I will take care of you every step of the way. The workshop will cover finding insects, photographing them, processing the photos, and everything in between. I will provide a more detailed description of the workshop later this year, but in the meantime if anyone is seriously interested in attending please contact me and let me know.
