Spare time photographer

I started with photography when I was very young already when my parents gave me a cheap digital camera. Stupid me lost the thing but I didn't lose my interest photos. It comes from my family, as almost every member has or used to have a (D)SLR camera at some point in their life.

I've always enjoyed creating things, and it just so happened I picked up photography to do that. My real interest in photography started when I bought a Canon Ixus when I was 14. It was a nice camera, but I needed to do more. Two years later I had saved enough money for my first DSLR: the Canon EOS 600D. At this point, photography became more than just something I liked to do. It became something I wanted to become better at, to the point where I could compete with others. Inspired by the vast amount of photographs available on the internet, I dove into close-up photography. I got myself a copy of Photoshop to start learning editing. I wasn't very good at either but I just kept on making photos, a few thousands a year. I had become the house photographer among family and friends. At some point I discovered the photographs my dad had taken with his old Nikon F camera: beautiful prints of Iceland, the Alps, and an old ruined monastery my parents thought to buy. This inspired me to get better at landscapes, especially mountains. Combined with the mountaineering passion in my family, I've been practising landscape photography for the last year.

I invite you to look at my pictures, from start to finish. What I enjoy about my gallery is the clear progress I've made over the past three years. Thanks to my parents who helped finance this expensive hobby because they believed I had an eye for it, I now have some images I am really proud of and like to share here on 500px.
