A short "Instant" Story

Published March 13th, 2012

A collection of the Polaroid section of my ongoing Camera Collection Project.

Polaroid Land Camera Model 150 (1957 Vintage Camera)

So I bought this real diamond of a camera today over in Galena, Illinois.

It's a 1957 Model 150 Polaroid Land Camera and came in an original 1957 Polaroid Deluxe Compartment case.

As I was routing through the contents of the case I found that it had it's original light meter in mint condition and in its original box, an orange filter, flash kit with it's original defuser as well as all the manuals and warranty cards.

It also had someones holiday photographs from a cruise in 1959, a polaroid photo album and a set of polaroid photo postcards.

What a find!

Polaroid "Swinger" (1965 Vintage Camera)

Found this sweet looking instant camera in a thrift store for only $1.
It's the Polaroid Swinger and was introduced in 1965 as a fun instant camera aimed at teens.

It featured instant roll film and a basic light meter which tells the user if there is enough light in the shot. If there is; the word "yes" appeared at the bottom of the viewfinder. A later model also included the word "No" if there wasn't enough light.

It was called "Model 20" as it was aimed at the $20 price band.

Polaroid "The Clincher" (1975 Vintage Camera)

Also found this camera in a thrift store for just $1.

With a name like "The Clincher" I had to buy this.

Polaroid Memory Maker (1970s Vintage Camera)

Another Polaroid addition to my collection. Nothing majorly unique about this camera. It's one of a long line of fixed focus instant polaroid cameras which all had the same shape just different names such as "The Clincher" also in my collection.

Polaroid Cool Cam (1988 Vintage Camera)

Now my ever growing camera collection has abit of '80's style to it.

This camera was an unexpected addition to my collection as today I went out to the local thrift store and bought all the cheap old cameras they had with a mind to smash the all up and make some art out of them.

I found 8 cameras in total, most were cheap 35mm compact cameras with no real value or appeal.

This one, however, caught my eye.

It's a funky looking polaroid with a striking red trim to it.

Bought for $1... worth maybe $40-$60 (Based on ebay estimates)

Polaroid One Step (Vintage Camera)

Digging around in second hand shops can sometimes bring up some surprising finds.

"One man's muck is another man's brass" is a saying I love remembering.

This is a Polaroid One Step camera which uses the old 600 film catridges.

Not sure about the year of make as the One Step's were made over a number of years.
