January 26th, 2013:
Ontario's teachers' unions called for a demonstration against the controversial legislation piece, Bill 115. The bill was quickly enacted and repealed, but nonetheless allowed for the Liberal government of Dalton McGuinty to force labour contracts onto Ontario's teachers, which included major cuts such as wage freezes and benefit reductions.
The protest saw a mass of support from many of Ontario's largest unions, including the United Steel Workers. In all, estimates placed the number of supporters at 15,000 - 30,000. It converged at Allan Gardens in Toronto, until organizers led a march to the Liberal Leadership Convention taking place the same day, at the Maple Leaf Gardens, located downtown.
