Darren Keast

I get to travel, and every once in a while I find that 1 in 1000 images I've taken that doesn't suck.

In 1974 my Grandparents bought me a Kodak Instamatic X-30 for Christmas. This was my first foray into pictures, and with the cost of film and flash bulbs I was careful what I captured. Little did I know that almost 40 years and a multitude of cameras later how far photography would come, and how my life would evolve to shape me into who I am today.

My first chosen profession started in 1986 as a Police Officer in the Province of Ontario. Policing has been good to me and I've been lucky enough to do every job I ever aspired to. In 2000 I expanded my horizons and fulfilled a lifelong goal when I became a Commercial Helicopter Pilot. I've been lucky enough to fly all over Canada and the United States with numerous Companies, Government and Police Aviation Units. All the while taking at least one camera with me.

For the most part I am a self-taught photographer, although I have attended some advanced courses to try and sharpen my skills. I find my attention to detail, weather, and most importantly light during the daylight hours and at night allow me to capture images that catch the eye and are unique.
