David Goold

David is a full-time geologist and lunchtime photographer with an interest in many photo genres. Perhaps because of his broad range of photo interests, or perhaps because of a fear of commitment, his photographic style is difficult to pin down.

He is not particularly interested in gear, despite owning too much of it. David embraces blur and noise and appreciates both colour and monochrome media. He is a self-confessed opportunist photographer with a passion for street photography.

His main objective with photography is to transform the ordinary into the unusual by abstraction of key elements and juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated objects in a sometimes bizarre (though hopefully humorous) manner. Often his main subject will occupy only a small part of the frame.

Four words which express his appreciation of the photographic works of others and those pieces he aspires to produce himself: wit; magic; ambience; and enigma.
