As an artist, my goal is to capture an image that sings to me. In a fleeting moment, I ‘ll have a glimpse, a vision, an image of a creation waiting to be formed, and begin the composition of a final work from varying angles and degrees. My Canon 5D Mark II faithfully in hand. As a musician, I’ve learned one of the most important aspects of performance is being in tune. Similarly, moving around an image and capturing it in its varying dimensions allows me to place its beauty in tune. With this method, I know I’ve got it! This is my greatest feeling as an artist, and it’s what drives my passion for photography.
A Fine Art Photograph should be artistically and technically excellent, and the digital aspect of photography provides opportunities and advantages we could never have imagined just a few years ago. Although a lover of film imaging, my focus and expression is through digital art. With the use of Photoshop, I can infuse images, captured during an idea and vision, and transform them in ways that were unavailable in an era when chemical photographic processing was the norm.
I love Black and White images. I believe color, unlike the expressions capture through Black and White, distract from the lines, form, and painting of light that make fine art photography. Black and White images demand absolute attention to the elements and require a discipline that I appreciate and respect. Painters paint with light and shadows. I do it with Black and White photography. Painting in an effort to express the depth and definition I feel when capturing my images. I do like color images and you will see some of them in my portfolio.
Collectors of art enjoy my works in their homes and offices, and they often describe my work as different, unique, and original. I stay connected to them through email and send monthly Newsletters informing them of new projects in the works; art shows in which I’ll be participating, sharing names of books and publications where my art will be featured; and allowing them first choice to purchase new releases they’ll add to their collection.
