David Meaux

David Meaux is an international photographer of architecture and design, based in southern France and the Washington, DC metro area. He holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Photographic Technology from Randolph Community College in Ashboro, North Carolina, USA. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication with specializations in Photojournalism and Multimedia Design and a Master of Arts in Geography with specializations in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (G.I.S.), both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. David leverages this foundation to deliver master-crafted images that capture the essence of places and spaces while meeting the technical demands of architectural photography.

David photographs with an Arca-Swiss technical camera, a Phase One IQ3 100MP digital back, and a wide range of the best Rodenstock HR (High Resolution) digital lenses available on the market. This combination of body, back, and lenses provides finely tuned in-camera perspective control, minimized optical distortion, a richness in texture and tonality only available from 16-bit color, and unequaled dynamic range. For smaller projects, David is also able to provide cost effective captures with his Nikon D810 camera and the full range of Nikkor perspective control (PC-E) lenses.

He enjoys the opportunity to work closely with architects and designers to understand each project and create beautiful images that embody the designers' intent and vision through his use of light and modern composition. Collaborating with photo stylist and skilled retoucher Mélanie Meaux, he is able to craft striking, distinctive images that evoke a sense of place and being.

He is inspired by how architecture is the embodiment of society's values and culture and is a reflection of the way we live. His photographic style is minimalistic centered on geometry, color, light and texture and placing particular emphasis on the spirit of a place. His work is characterized by his ability to balance technical expertise with personal attention to quality and details. He is available for work in France, Europe, the Washington, D.C. area and worldwide.

David is an Associate Member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and a member of the Association of Independent Architectural Photographers (AIAP).
