Della specializes in atmospheric landscapes and cityscapes of California. Having grown up in Marin County, California, she has always had a fascination with and passion for the awesome beauty of nature and the intersection of urban and natural landscapes.
Della first picked up her parents' vintage Nikkormat camera and took a printing and developing class at age 12, and was hooked from her first roll of film. She continued to focus on black and white photography while attending Marin Academy. After a hiatus from photography while attending college, she bought a prosumer digital camera in 2004 when she moved to Boston.
"I was captivated by the city's many stunning contrasts: blunt and matter-of-fact to dignified and refined. Chilling ice and blazing heat. Ancient brick and sparkling glass. Educated and elite to working class. I was moved to capture Boston's unique beauty and atmosphere in my images and developed my current style, which I describe as simple, bold, and graphic, and with a bit of romanticism and nostalgia thrown in."
Della has since moved back to California and has graduated to a much larger gear bag. Della shoots primarily with Canon equipment: a Canon 5D Mark II, and her favorite lenses are the Canon 70-200L, Canon 24-70L and the 100-400L. Tiffen circular polarizers and Lee graduated neutral density filters round out the collection.
Della is a contributing photographer to Alamy and Acclaim Images. Her images have been published internationally in books, magazines, travel guides, hotels, postcards, greeting cards, calendars, websites, and public and private collections.
