Homestead-Miami Speedway hosts the last races of the period in the IRL Indy Car Collection, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Nationwide Collection, Outdoor camping Globe Vehicle Series, and the Grand-Am Sports Car Collection. The speedway was created to assist Homestead rebound after the devastation created by Hurricane Andrew. Groundbreaking began August 24, 1993, precisely one year after the cyclone.
